The Crossroads In Depth

So it's been awhile since I updated anything about the Space Between on here or just uploading chapters. I really just have no idea what happened except that Ghoulish Instincts didn't go how I had planned it and needed to be replaced and all of the chapters after it never came together, until this one.

This specific chapter started out as a one-shot Franklin chapter that would have been posted on it's own, which is just the first chapter in this part.

It was mostly inspired by some of _Picolo's Teen Titans artwork, but more specifically this post of his.

Something that I drew on was a memory that I had of a trip to the beach my family took. We stopped at a motel, got to swim in the pool because we were the only people staying there who had bathing suits, walked down the street in the twilight hours of the day to get ice cream, and stayed up watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit? for the first time. It was a nice memory that I like to think back on, and _Picolo's art of (Most of) the Teen Titans hanging out at the Motel really captured the feel of what I remembered from it.

The rest of the part deals with The Crossroads proper, which was part of an idea that was almost a three-parter more than a year ago, but never really got anywhere with it, and part of an idea that was almost a part longer ago than even that. Together it really made more sense then when they were separate parts and separate stories.

The appearance of The Crossroads is based on the mirror realm in an episode of Justice League: Unlimited titled Flash and Substance (Season 3 Episode 5).

Officially it's what the original five members of the Space Between had gone through before they had ended up in the Sanctum Sanctorum. It could have easily been The House of Mystery arriving in the Space Between and the Sanctum Sanctorum being trapped in The Crossroads, or any combination of people who had been trapped there could have made it to the Sanctum Sanctorum's basement.

Ant-Man (Scott Lang) almost made it into this part, but while writing a conversation between him and Kal I realized that he didn't really need to be in the chapter and I had no idea what he was doing there.

I know that Constantine and Zatanna weren't there for very long, but there was no real reason for them to stay for any extended period of time since they were then able to leave The Crossroads and by extension The Space Between. We might see them again, who knows? :)

Teenaged Jay Garrick was originally supposed to make an appearance way earlier like, in Part Fourteen, before it was about the Tower of Trials. And now we're here more than twice the number of chapters from what his original appearance was going to be.

Bruce Banner and Jean Grey were actually the newest of The Crossroads' group to have been added, so I don't really have much to say about them. All I really know is that Bruce came from a universe where Ultron half-won in Age of Ultron, which makes his and Tony's universes actually pretty close to each other in the multiverse.

More chapters will be coming soon.
